I am not well-versed in cooking, but I'm learning! 

Last year at Basics there was a table where someone was giving out samples of popcorn tossed in flax oil instead of butter.  I was amazed at how good it tasted!  

About 6 months ago, I began seeing my naturopathic doctor again regularly for acupuncture and nutritional guidance to re-build my immune system.  She recommended I incorporate nutritional yeast into my diet and suggested I try it on popcorn.  "Yeast" did not sound very yummy to me, but to my surprise, I loved its nutty, cheesy flavor!

I made some of the "new" popcorn for my kids, and they too loved the taste (of course I didn't mention how healthy it was.)

I buy the popcorn and the nutritional yeast (also known as brewer's yeast) in bulk from Basics which makes this one of the most cost-effective, nutritious snacks ever ;-)

The recipe is simple, as there are only 4 ingredients:

  • Popcorn
  • Barlean's Flax Oil (available in a refrigerated case at Basics)
  • Nutritional Yeast
  • Sea Salt
