Chocolates Bring us Together

It started with a chocolate sampling at a family event in 2018, but by 2019, the husband-and-wife team of Robyn and Stan Kitson had created Driftless Chocolates.

Stan, who earned his chocolatier certification from Ecole Chocolat, also uses his science background and his honed flavor instincts to work with fine chocolate. Spouse Robyn, who has started and grown several small businesses in the past, uses her experience to grow the business. Driftless Chocolates saw its beginnings in the small village of Paoli, but in 2023, it moved to Mount Horeb.

Driftless Chocolates uses single-origin chocolate from places such as Colombia, Peru, the Dominican Republic, Tanzania, and Madagascar. Just a few of the local places they source their ingredients from include Shullsberg Creamery, Sassy Cow Creamery, Gentle Breeze Honey, Savory Accents, and Telsaan Tea.

Why Driftless?

The Driftless moniker was chosen since the couple has spent much of their life together in the Driftless area. At 450 million years old, Donald Rock was an important landmark to native cultures and continues to be a landmark for area residents.

Basics currently carries Sea Salt Honey Caramels and Chunky Pecan Caramels. You can also find the LEDGES Chocolate Bars in Door County Cherry, Cocoa Nibs, Cashew Ginger, and Roasted Almond.
