For years, Matt Mixter traveled the world working for a seafood company. Through all of his travels, Matt was able to see firsthand the origins of the world’s freshest seafood, which ultimately led him to believe there was a smarter way to bring seafood to consumers. This led to the establishment of Wixter Market in Chicago.

What makes Wixter Seafood special?

Wixter Seafood uses only sustainably sourced, prime cuts of frozen seafood from carefully selected producers. All fish is frozen within 24-72 hours of being caught at minus 76 degrees Fahrenheit. This ‘super freezing’ technique stops all decomposition in fish, which increases shelf life and preserves flavor.

In addition to using only portion-sized, prime cuts of fish, Wixter Seafood is working to ensure that every fish is utilized to its maximum nutritional benefit - zero waste. By-products are utilized in oils, supplements, pet and agriculture feed, and more.
