September is National Family Meals Month
Studies show extensive nutrition, social, and mental benefits associated with family meals.
What’s more, the benefits apply to the whole family! For kids, family meals are linked to higher grades and self-esteem, healthier eating habits, and less risky behavior. Adults who make home-cooked meals and eat at home with others make healthier food choices and eat fewer calories overall.
Basics offers fresh, frozen and prepared meal solutions for a range of household budgets and schedules. We understand family meals can be challenging to keep up with, due to busy modern lifestyles, and we want to help! If you’re looking for menu inspiration, try the StrongerTogether.coop recipe database which uses many natural ingredients you can find at the co-op.
Below are some of our staff’s go-to meals for busy days:
Made in the instant pot: Maya Kaimal Tikka Masala simmer sauce with WI Meadows pork, rice and seasonal veggies.

Stir-fry with chicken, stir-fry blend veggies from freezer, onions, garlic, Bragg liquid aminos or Coconut Secret aminos, over rice or rice noodles.
